Creating a New Student Organization
Current Student Organizations: Maintaining Student Involvement Recognition
Simple! Update your organization's record in the
Gator Groups Student Organization Database in the spring with new officer information to be eligible for services
the following academic year. (If the update does not occur the group's registration will be deleted
and they will have to restart the process.) You will need the
following information:
Organization Name, Mission, Meeting days/times/location,
(box and e-mail if different from president)
President's name, box number,
phone (cell preferred if primary contact), e-mail.
Treasurer's name, box
number, phone (cell preferred if primary contact), e-mail.
Advisor's name,
box number/address, phone, e-mail.
New Student Organizations: Acquiring Recognition
Once ASG receives your completed registration packet (see "Creating a New Student Organization" link above), they will confirm the information with your advisor, clarify any information, and then make your registration "live" on Gator Groups. You will then complete the information on Gator Groups for the box number, phone (cell preferred) and email address for the President, Treasurer and Advisor.
All e-mails, newsletters, and ASG financial information are generated from the database so groups must keep their information current.
Organizations who do not qualify for ASG recognition will submit the completed forms to the Director of Student Involvement for review and consideration.
Current Student Organizations: Ongoing ASG Recognition
ASG recognized organizations must elect their officers prior to the month of April, submit a budget packet during the appointed time (typically in March), and attend budget hearings in April to remain a current ASG organization. If not, organizations must reapply for recognition as a "new student organization." Please note: ASG notifies organizations about budget processes via the information in the Gator Groups student organization database. ASG is not responsible for organizations that do not maintain current information. (ASG organizations who miss budget hearings should review the ASG Financial Policies to obtain budgets).
